Lavender Graduation is more than a ceremony—it’s a powerful affirmation of LGBTQ+ students’ achievements, resilience, and place in our shared academic history. Across the country, colleges, universities, and high schools are hosting these celebrations to honor the unique journeys of their LGBTQ+ graduates.

Now, it’s time to make those celebrations visible!
The National Registry of Lavender Graduations, hosted by the Lavender Graduation Legacy Project, is the first-ever public record of where and how these ceremonies are being held. By joining, your institution:
- Shows national leadership in LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility.
- Connects with other schools hosting ceremonies to share ideas, resources, and best practices.
- Honors your graduates by placing your celebration in a historic and searchable archive.
- Inspires other institutions to create or expand their own Lavender Graduation.

In 2010 at 64 years old, I was chosen as the Graduate Class of 2010 Keynote Speaker. As an African-American, I spoke of how wonderful it felt to be amongst like-minded Graduates that came together to support our accomplishments over the years regardless of our skin color. To have Dr. Ronni Sanlo at the helm, made the experience that much more relevant and unforgettable. Thank you, Doc. Those memories are forever emblazoned in my thoughts and have helped me to appreciate life and all of the trials and tribulations that embedded along life’s journey.”
